Dental Surgery in Henfield

The Mallards Dental Practice's Philosophy

In this modern era of dentistry patients are now keeping their teeth for longer as dental technology and patient awareness improves. At The Mallards Dental Practice this presents our contemporary dental surgeon with a whole host of new challenges. As patients expect to retain a full complement of natural teeth for life they are now looking towards more complex, advanced treatments to save teeth, which may be in poor condition. For those patients with relatively healthy teeth the scope now for completely natural looking cosmetics is diverse.

However, the greatest advancement has been in the field of preventative dentistry, as in the case of most situations, prevention is better than cure.

Restorative Dentistry

Restorative dentistry aims at restoring the function of the tooth or teeth. The restoration itself can be comprised of one of many materials form amalgam through to porcelain.

Crowns and bridges are fixed prosthetic devices, being fixed means that once implanted they do not need to be removed (like dentures), they are cemented to the existing tooth. The crown is the visible part of the tooth and usually is the part which suffers the most damage from a number of sources. The fabrication of the crown is done by using a replica of the original crown which is built by an indirect method; the result is a permanent fixture of the new crown to your tooth allowing a long lasting solution. The procedure is fairly routine and would require local anaesthesia and usually takes less than 3 sittings / visits.

A bridge is usually recommended if you are missing a tooth, the gap caused by a missing tooth serves as a vacuum and hence allows the side or the upper tooth to invade on the empty space and disturb the jaw line. Bridges are again moulded from porcelain or a combination of metal and porcelain and are fixed in position. Our dental surgery staff will assist you throughout the selection process and facilitate the right selection keeping in mind a number of factors.

Cosmetic Dentistry

They say “a smile is a curve that sets everything straight,” cosmetic dentistry aims at making everyone have a beautiful smile, we pride ourselves when we say that we make “smile makeovers” possible for almost everyone! A beautiful smile can and does promote self-confidence, self-esteem and eventually is responsible in making ground for healthy interpersonal relationship, if you have a “terrific smile” the effects of this trickle down to other psychological facets.

is what catches the attention of all, but cosmetic dentistry is not just smile makeover. It actually involves all the process and procedures which aesthetically enhance the face and the teeth. It specifically involves the following – veneers, encountering / reshaping of the teeth, bleaching and micro-abrasion, bonding etc…

“Everyone smiles in the same language!”
